When should I use a Pet Sitting Service?
When you find you are spending longer hours at work or have a long day of entertaining where you are away from home. Maybe a weekend getaway is planned, vacation or business trip, family get together or family emergency. It is always a good idea to have a Professional Pet Sitting Service on hand to come and help out when you can’t be there.
Why should I hire a Pet Sitter?
Your pets are allowed to stay in their environment which they know best. Allows them to keep their regular diet and routine. They receive professional attention while you are away. It is less stressful to your pet, which in turn causes less health issues. It also provides you with some great benefits as well, like happier friends and family who aren’t burdened with caring for your pets. Peace of mind that your pets are being cared for by a professional. Makes your home looked lived in by bringing in mail, newspapers, and alternating lights and blinds. Professional Pet Sitters are licensed, insured, bonded, background checked and trained.
My pet(s) is not very social. Will you care for him/her?
All pets must be people friendly. The initial consultation will be the time to get to know your pet(s). For our safety, any pet(s) that are overly territorial, anxious or aggressive toward people, will not be a good match for Caring 4 Paws Services. We will do everything we can to work with your pet before determining this.
What kinds of pets do you care for?
We are pleased to provide service to all kinds of pets, including but not limited to dogs, cats, reptiles. fish, birds, small caged animals, ferrets, and even horses. We have limited staff available to do horse visits so please schedule these services well in advance to ensure professional equine care. Chances are if you love it we will to and will try and make arrangements to care for your family pet regardless of the species. Please no dangerous pets, ie-wild life, lions, tigers, bears, oh my, sorry, we have to put that in since everyone has different pet loves.
What happens if my pet becomes ill while I am away from home?
When we meet to do the initial consultation you will provide us with your veterinarian and contact information. We also always have several vets on call if there is an emergency which we can use if we are unable to get in with your vet of choice. If it is not life threatening then we will contact you first. If it is of an urgent nature then we will get your pet to the vet immediately and then contact you as soon as possible. We also have a medical release form that you will sign during the initial consultation as to your care wishes for your pet(s).
Will you provide updates on how our pet(s) are doing?
Yes, we will be in constant communication with you during your time away. We will text or email updates to you daily as well as keep a log of all activities with your pet(s) including how well he/she is eating, exercise, playtime and general health and well being. We also love to share pictures of your pets with you so you don’t feel so separated from them and to show you they are having a good time.
How many visits do you make per day?
If you are going to be away for a 24 hour period, we will not do less than 3 visits per day, unless your pet has access to a doggy door. It is in the best interest for your pet(s). If you only have kitties, than a single visit per day is usually sufficient. Some pets are best with even more visits per day, particularly puppies, elderly dogs or dogs with separation anxiety.
I have a family member/friend that can stop in and check on my pets and take care of some of their visits. Is this ok?
Many people like to include neighbors, friends or family to help out with the pet sitting duties. These well-intentioned actions often create confusion during a shared responsibility sitting assignment. Common problems are overfeeding, unsecured doors, lost keys, or skipped feedings. If anyone other than Caring 4 Paws has access to your home during our scheduled dates of service, we must be notified in advance and Caring 4 Paws will not be liable for any damages or lost items. Our liability insurance will not cover issues when there are others coming into the home that are not employed by Caring 4 Paws.
What if I am delayed in my return home?
We will continue to care for your pet(s) until you return. Please let us know as soon as you know of your delay. This is important as we will need to ensure that your sitter is available or to assign another sitter to finish the services.
Is there a fee for key/lock box pick up?
During the initial consultation we will have a lock box with us and you may take 1 at this meeting or provide 2 keys to your home. If you choose not to take a lock box or provide us with keys at the time of the consultation, we can pick up a set of keys or deliver a lock box to your home for a $10.00 service fee.
What is the preferred method of payment?
Prior to your scheduled services you will receive an invoice for the remaining balance by email. You may choose to pay this online through your personal account with Caring 4 Paws, using Visa, Master Card, Discover or you may leave a check on the first day of service, made out to, Caring 4 Paws. If you mail a check, the mailing address is 1997 E 167th Drive, Thornton, CO 80602. You may also call the office to pay by phone. At your request we can keep your preferred method of payment on a secure file system to pay invoices automatically for you. Regular monthly clients will receive a monthly invoice after the initial established credit worthy period.
Why do you not allow our dog(s) off leash or allow them to go to the dog park during your visits?
While we do not dislike dog parks. in fact many of us utilize them for our own pets but while your pets are in our care we have found it is best not to allow them at the dog parks or off leash. This policy is in place to protect your pet(s) from any unforeseen danger or accidents. Caring 4 Paws Liability insurance has found that too many accidents can and do happen when these practices are not adhered to. The last thing we want for pets in our care is to be injured or lost!
